Hello Hollis Families:
A big THANK YOU to those of you who participated in our virtual Summer Reading Program this year! You and your families made the virtual program a great success. We hope everyone enjoyed their gift cards and you were all able to get some neat things for all your reading. Congratulations to all of our grand prize winners!
As we continue to navigate the changes impacting our youth programs we want to let all our families know, that we are generating new programming for your families as you head BACK-TO-SCHOOL!! We have lots of new take-out projects planned to keep your families entertained this fall.
Here are some things you can look forward to from the Youth Department as we go into the next few months. We will be starting the HSL It’s Lit Podcast. This podcast will be family-friendly and in it, we will share with you some of the books we are very excited about that will be coming to our youth library shelves and audio section. If you haven’t already subscribed to our Youth Instagram account, follow us at HSL_it’slit to get access to the podcast when it’s live.
We are also excited to announce an HSL YouTube Channel we are creating, which will specifically feature our children’s story times. This platform will allow you to more easily search the videos or create playlists for on the go.
We will soon be offering games for the Nintendo Switch and expanding our PS4 collection. You can request items to add to our various collections (including videogames rated 12 and under) through our online catalog. Click on the purchase request link, under the search bar, to request a new item.
We will be continuing our Book Talks with Miss Shannon, and these will be available to view on our It’s Lit Bulletin. We will post a clip of them to our Instagram, so you can get a preview of what the discussion is about.
Looking for books that will keep your kids engaged? Our Media Maven feature is a great tool just for that! Fill out the form on our website under the Services Menu and we will identify similar books your kids might enjoy.
We wish you great success with the start of the school year, whether at home or in school. Have a safe and healthy fall!
