Adult Fiction

Fiona Davis returns with The Magnolia Palace a novel of secrets, betrayal, and murder. Moving between the early twentieth century and the 1960s, this novel follows two different and yet connected female protagonists. Also moving between two time periods, 1989 and 2020, BOX 88 follows Lachlan Kite, a member of an elite black ops outfit. As he reminisces about his career Kite is forced to confront the legacy of his first covert mission.

Looking for a thrilling read? Reach for Reckless Girls. Six twentysomethings embark on an adventure to an isolated island with a dark history. One person goes missing, another turns up dead, and suddenly paradise isn’t so perfect anymore.

Finally, in The Horsewoman by James Patterson, mother and daughter, Maggie and Becky, share a dream to be the best horsewoman in the world. Their lives are turned upside down when they compete against each other at the Paris Olympics.

Adult Nonfiction

Pulitzer Prize-winning author of All the President’s Men, Carl Bernstein, shares his entry into journalism in his new memoir: Chasing History: A Kid in the Newsroom. Architect Henry Hobson Richardson and landscape designer Frederick Law Olmsted are profiled in Architects of an American Landscape. These two men greatly influenced how we enjoy our public and private spaces to this day.

Get a dose of true crime with Murder at Teal’s Pond. The murder of Hazel Drew in 1908 remained unsolved and gave rise to rumor, ghost stories and eventually the TV show Twin Peaks. In Lightning Strike: Ten Transformative Moments in Rock and Roll, guitarist Lenny Kaye writes about the moments that defined the genre from 1954 to 1991.

Finally, work on all those New Year’s resolutions with State Change. Gain energy, beat burnout, and end anxiety with this 30-day program to reset your mind, body, and mood.
