Know Your Librarian: Ceci

|

Many of you already know Ceci from her years working in the kid’s room and at the circulation desk. But did you know she became our Youth Services Librarian this past fall? We’re so excited to have her as a full-time part of our community.

Hi Ceci! Congratulations on the promotion. We can’t wait to learn a bit more about you. We’ve got some questions ready so let’s dive right in. First, we have to ask, what’s your favorite genre of book or movie?

My favorite book and movie genre is probably horror. I love trying to follow the twists and turns, as well as feeling actual anxiety for the characters while reading a book.

What hobby would you get into if time and money weren’t an issue?

I would want to become a skydiving instructor. That is a real dream of mine, but I am not sure I can afford 500 skydives to get certified!

What are you interested in that most people haven’t heard of?

I love making art! I love to collage, paint, and most recently, work with clay. I would love to write and/or illustrate picture books one day. I feel most relaxed when working on one of my art projects!

What form of public transportation do you prefer? (plane, boat, train, bus, car, etc.)

I really like boat rides and have always thought it would be fun to live on an island where you can only travel by boat or on foot.

Would you rather go hang gliding or whitewater rafting?

I have already been whitewater rafting, so I have to say hang gliding! It seems like a lot of fun.

Where is the most interesting place you’ve been?

I studied abroad in New Zealand while I was in college. One of the coolest things I got to see there was where the Tasman Sea meets the Pacific Ocean! It was crazy to see the wave’s crash against each other in some places one minute, then move as one the next! I also got to see a few places where they filmed Narnia!

What fictional place would you most like to go?

I would like to go see the inside of the peach from James and the Giant Peach. This was the first read-aloud chapter book I heard in elementary school and holds a special place in my heart. I have always thought the spider-web spun hammocks sound like a dream place to sleep!

What pets did you have while you were growing up?

We had two bunnies and two dogs growing up! My dogs, Charlie and Phoebe, were actually brother and sister. Our bunnies were white with red eyes!

What book impacted you the most?

The book that I have found to be the most impactful to me is The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I had never enjoyed reading anything until I started this series. I finally understood what everyone meant by not being able to put down a book and what it felt like to enjoy reading. Seeing that I am now ALWAYS in the middle of reading something and working in a library, this was a very important moment in my life.

Are you an introvert or an extrovert?

LOL, an extrovert! I never stop talking!
